PRE-DIABETES AND POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME (PCOS)
A woman with Insulin-Resistance-linked Pre-Diabetes is also at greater risk of developing the hormonal imbalance called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), a major cause of menstrual irregularity and infertility. This condition is also known as polycystic ovaries, Sclerocystic Ovarian Disease, Stein-Leventhal Syndrome and Polycystic Ovarian Disease.
Insulin Resistance creates an excess of glucose and insulin in the blood stream, which, as well as increasing the risk of Pre-Diabetes, can also upset the delicate balance of a woman's hormones. One effect is an increase in the male hormone testosterone, which may prevent ovulation and remove any possibility of becoming pregnant. Women with PCOS may also suffer from skin conditions and excess facial and body hair, as well as male pattern baldness.
Additionally, PCOS increases the risk of coronary heart disease because of its association with atherosclerosis, which occurs when fatty deposits called plaque cling to the interior walls of the arteries. This process can lead to blockages that may cause heart attacks or stroke.
Not only do PCOS sufferers have higher rates of plaque build-up but those over 45 also have thicker deposits of plaque. In addition, the imbalance of glucose and insulin levels caused in women with PCOS leads to a lowering of HDL "good" cholesterol and an increase in triglycerides, which are fat-storing substances carried through the blood stream to the tissues. These factors also increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke.
Overweight and obese women are particularly prone to PCOS. But they do not have a monopoly of this disorder as females of normal weight and even those who are lean can also suffer from Polycystic Overian Syndrome.
Click here to read about the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System, a unique scientific breakthrough that can reverse the disease before it leads to Type 2 Diabetes which is irreversible in the vast majority of cases and may require daily injections of insulin for the rest of a Diabetic's life. Type 2 Diabetes, itself, is a seriously increased risk factor for blindness, heart and kidney disease and the need for amputation.
The Insulite System includes a formulation called Pre-SensitX with ingredients like vanadium sulfate, which enables cells to absorb glucose more efficiently and reduces circulating blood sugar and insulin secretion - key factors in weight gain and the onset of Pre-Diabetes and PCOS.
