PRE-DIABETES AND METABOLIC SYNDROME (SYNDROME X)
Insulin Resistance-linked obesity is
often an underlying cause of both Pre-Diabetes and Metabolic
Syndrome (Syndrome X). The latter disorder
can lead to Cardiovascular Disease and may
result in a heart attack or stroke.
Men and women with Pre-Diabetes are vulnerable to developing
Metabolic Syndrome, a cluster of cardiovascular disorders
characterized by a person having at least three of the following
symptoms:
- Excess abdominal fat - in men this means a 40-inch
waist or larger, in women 35 inches or larger
- High blood sugar - at least 110 milligrams per
deciliter (mg/dl)
- High triglyceride levels - at least 150mg/dl
in the blood stream
- Low HDL "good" cholesterol - less than
40 mg/dl in men and 50 mg/dl in women.
- Blood pressure of 130/85 or higher
If left unchecked, Pre-Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome
are high-risk factors for a heart attack or stroke.
Metabolic Syndrome has also been linked with the onset of
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), a leading cause
of infertility in women.

can reverse this obesity-related disease before the onset
of Metabolic Syndrome and irreversible Type 2 Diabetes.
This latter condition can only be managed for the rest of
a Diabetic's life in the majority of cases and may require
daily injections of insulin. Type 2 Diabetes, itself, is
a seriously increased risk factor for blindness, heart and
kidney disease and the need for amputation.
The Insulite Pre-Diabetes System includes formulations like
Meta-OmegaX, which features omega 3 fatty acids that can
lower levels of triglycerides and LDL "bad" cholesterol and
boost levels of HDL "good" cholesterol.
