- What are the symptoms of Pre- and
Type 2 Diabetes and how do they relate to Insulin Resistance?
-
Pre-Diabetes is usually lacking in symptoms and needs blood
tests to be detected. The disorder is defined as having blood glucose
levels higher than normal but not in the range of Type 2 Diabetes.
Fortunately, Pre-Diabetes doesn't automatically become
the irreversible Type 2 variety.
If present, the most common symptoms of Insulin Resistance and obesity-linked
Type II Diabetes are
- increased production of urine - the body is trying to get
rid of the excess glucose in the urine
- unusual thirst
- tiredness - because the glucose is "going to waste" and
not being converted into energy
- weight loss
- increased appetite
- feeling sick
- blurred vision
- infections such as thrush or irritation of the genitals
Insulin Resistance is being increasingly identified as an underlying
cause of obesity. Both conditions are major risk factors for developing
Pre- and Type 2 Diabetes.
Insulin Resistance prevents the efficient conversion of food into
energy because it vastly reduces the number of insulin receptors
on the cell wall. It has been estimated that, while a typical healthy
person has 20,000 insulin receptor sites per cell, the average overweight
individual suffering from Insulin Resistance can have as few as 5,000.
If you have a greatly reduced number of insulin receptor site on
the cells' surface, your ability to lose weight is severely
compromised. Insulin acts as "a key in a lock," allowing
glucose to pass through the cell wall and be converted to energy.
If you have too few receptor sites, glucose bounces off the cell
wall instead of passing through the insulin "door." As
a result, glucose free-floats in the blood stream, causing elevated
levels of blood sugar, which are sent to the liver. Once there, the
sugar is converted into fat and stored via the blood stream throughout
the body in a process that can lead to weight gain and obesity.
Excess, free-floating insulin also has a harmful affect. It
can damage the lining of the arteries and contribute to the development
of atherosclerosis, which is characterized by a dangerous build-up
of plaque on the artery walls.
In addition, the imbalance of glucose and insulin can lead to a
greater risk of developing Cardiovascular Disease because it causes
increased levels of triglycerides, which are fat-storing substances
carried through the blood stream to the tissues. As your weight increases,
stressors build up on the entire cardiovascular system. The heart
and lungs, for example, have to work harder to distribute an adequate
amount of freshly-oxygenated blood throughout the body. As well
as the increase in triglycerides, there is also a rise in LDL "bad" cholesterol
and a lowering of "good" HDL cholesterol. This combination
increases the risk of a heart attack and stroke.
Increased insulin and glucose levels have also been proven to cause
changes in the kidneys' ability to remove salt as well as increasing
the risk of blood clot formation.
All of these are key factors in the onset of reversible Pre-Diabetes,
which, if neglected, can lead to Type 2 Diabetes, a disorder that
must be managed and may require daily insulin for life. Both Pre-and
Type 2 Diabetes severely increase the risk of Cardiovascular Disease,
which can lead to heart attacks and stroke.
Some individuals with Type 2 Diabetes simply feel slightly unwell
or assume they are just aging.
Root causes of Pre-Diabetes are Insulin Resistance and obesity,
which can both be reversed by a complete system which combines a
balanced nutritious diet, regular exercise and a support program.
- What blood tests can I have
to determine if I have Pre-Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes and
what are the indicators of this condition?
-
There are two tests to determine whether a person has Pre-Diabetes
or Type 2 Diabetes. One is called a Fasting Plasma Glucose test (FPG),
the other an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT). The American
Diabetes Association recommends the FPG test because it is easier,
faster and less expensive to perform.
With the FPG test, a fasting blood glucose level between 100 and
125 mg/dl signals Pre-Diabetes. A person with a fasting blood glucose
level of 126 mg/dl or higher has Type 2 Diabetes.
In the OGTT test, a person's blood glucose level is measured
after a fast and two hours after drinking a glucose-rich beverage.
If the two-hour blood glucose level is between 140 and 199 mg/dl,
the person tested has Pre-Diabetes. If the two-hour blood
glucose level is at 200 mg/dl or higher, the diagnosis is Type 2
Diabetes.
Pre-Diabetes is most often a silent condition with symptoms
that only show up in medical tests. It occurs when a person's
blood glucose levels are higher than normal but not high enough for
a diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes.
If present, the most common symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes are:
- increased production of urine - the body is trying to get
rid of the excess glucose in the urine
- unusual thirst
- tiredness - because the glucose is "going to waste" and
not being converted into energy)
- loss of weight
- increased appetite
- feeling sick
- blurred vision
- infections such as thrush or irritation of the genitals
Some people simply feel a bit unwell or assume they are just ageing.
- Are certain racial groups
prone to developing Pre-Diabetes?
-
Yes. While different forms of Diabetes occur in people of all ages
and races, research has shown that some racial groups have a higher
risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. This condition is more common
in African Americans, Latinos and Native Americans as well as Asian
Americans and Pacific Islanders. Regarding age, the elderly are also
at greater risk.
- How does the Insulite Pre-Diabetes
System help people suffering from the disorder?
-
This product has been designed specifically for people suffering
from Pre-Diabetes. The Insulite Pre-Diabetes System is
an important strategy for reducing not only the condition but also
Insulin Resistance, a root cause of Pre-Diabetes. The Insulite
Pre-Diabetes System has several elements, including Pre-SensitX,
a formulation that includes the following disease-specific ingredients
and benefits:
Gymnema Sylvestre: Balances blood sugar, enhances
insulin action and creates anti-diabetic action, decreases HbA1c
and aids Beta-Cell regeneration/repair.
Bitter Melon (Momardica Charantia): Lowers
blood sugar, improves glucose tolerance, lowers lipids, decreases
post-prandial glucose, reduces fat tissue accumulation and is anti-diabetic.
Berberis Aquifolium (Oregon Grape Root): lowers
blood glucose, raises insulin sensitivity, stimulates insulin secretion
and is comparable to Metformin in glucose lowering capability.
- Are there any stimulants in
the Insulite Pre-Diabetes products?
-
No. We do not believe the stimulant approach is beneficial for long
term weight loss, which is vital for reversing the symptoms of Pre-Diabetes
in most people. In fact, reducing one's appetite and over stimulating
the body will only cause a rebound of weight gain! Stimulants can
be dangerous when taken on a daily basis and Insulite Laboratories
is committed to your well being by providing a lasting, safe, scientifically-based
solution to your weight and health problems.
Additionally, weight loss products containing stimulants can cause
problems if you have high blood pressure, glaucoma, edema, a history
of stroke, if you are pregnant or if you experience heart palpitations
or hyperaldosteronism.
- How long do I stay on the
Insulite Pre-Diabetes System?
-
Scientific research overwhelmingly confirms the fact that a truly
effective change in the body at a cellular level needs to be gradual.
You did not become overweight and Insulin Resistant overnight. Therefore,
it is not realistic or safe to attempt or expect a complete reversal
in a few days. We recommend that you follow the guidelines of the
Insulite Pre-Diabetes System for at least six months. Most of
our customers will need to stay on the system for at least one year.
Keep in mind that we recommend your weight loss does not exceed ½ to
1 lb. per week. At the end of 6 months, we would like to evaluate
your progress with you and make recommendations for a course of action
based on that evaluation. Just email
us to arrange a complimentary telephone consultation with our
Medical & Advisory team.
Please do not be discouraged! Research shows that the rapid weight
loss evident in most fad diets is almost immediately followed by
rapid weight gain. Why? Because the body has a memory. If you
have been overweight for some time, your body recognizes that weight
as its normal state. When you lose weight quickly, the body does
not have time to habituate. It sees the rapid weight loss as abnormal
and, once a diet is stopped, it makes an effort to get back as quickly
as possible to the normal retaining of fat. At Insulite Laboratories,
we emphasize gradual weight loss so that the body can slowly adapt
to a lighter weight as well as to eliminate the dreaded "rebound
effect" of weight loss and gain. Insulite Laboratories wants
you to be healthy for life, not thin for one event in your life.
Because of the factors above, we recommend that you dedicate at least
six months to the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System.
- How many pills are there to
take every day?
-
The Pre-SensitX and Pre-RejuvenX products are both to
be taken 2 caps twice per day (4 caps of each per day).
The Pre-GlucX product is designed to slow the absorption of
sugar in the blood stream. It is recommended to take 3 caps twice
per day between meals. The Meta-OmegaX product is recommended at
2 caps twice a day.
The total number of pills is greater than most programs because
we at Insulite Laboratories know that there is no one pill that can
affect the same type of changes as our system. In fact, you are changing
numerous ways in which your body heals itself and these changes need
to be supported with therapeutic doses of nutrients.
- How should I take the pills
for the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System?
-
| With breakfast: |
Pre-SensitX - 2 caps and Pre-RejuvenX - 2
caps |
| Between breakfast and lunch: |
Pre-GlucX - 3 caps |
| With Lunch: |
Pre-SensitX - 2 caps, Pre-RejuvenX - 2
caps and Meta-OmegaX - 2 caps |
| With Dinner: |
Meta-OmegaX - 2 caps |
| After dinner/before bed: |
Pre-GlucX - 3 caps |
If you forget to take any of the supplements with breakfast or lunch,
you can take that dose with dinner.
- Has the Insulite Pre-Diabetes
System been approved by the FDA (Federal Drug Administration)?
-
Currently, there are no nutritional supplements for weight loss
or Pre-Diabetes available over the counter that are FDA-approved.
At present, the FDA does not regulate the manufacture of these types
of products. Therefore, the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System has
not been approved by the FDA.
Our supplements are manufactured using high-quality nutrients
that will affect metabolic change. Our manufacturer certifies the
authenticity of all ingredients in our formulas. Additionally, research
conducted by Insulite Laboratories confirms the safety of this formulation
of nutrients. There are no toxicities to any ingredients in any of
our formulas.
- Are the Insulite
supplements made in the USA?
-
Yes, all of our supplements, which are also known as nutraceuticals,
are made in the USA.
- What is the
source of the ingredients (vitamins, minerals and herbs) in your
nutraceuticals?
-
They come from various sources. The adrenals are a high quality
freeze dried mix from Denmark; they are porcine. All flax seed, for
example, is made from organic flax seeds sourced from the northern
USA.
Most minerals, some extracts, and vitamins are sourced from an international
source which is the industry standard.
- How can I be
sure that the ingredients in the Insulite supplements are of the
highest quality?
-
Insulite Laboratories develops relationships only with reputable
suppliers and manufacturers who maintain the highest standards of
production and testing to ensure the purity and integrity of the
ingredients. All products have a certificate of analysis from their
source and each batch is individually tested for microbial limits
(when applicable), purity, and heavy metals.
Our manufacturers are a cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices)
company that is fully compliant with the US Federal Drug Administration's
(FDA) regulations.
The FDA has recently released extensive new cGMP laws for dietary
supplement manufacturers with a 2010 deadline for full compliance.
Our manufacturer is on schedule to meet the new regulations in advance
of the "comply by" date. They are inspected by the FDA
and local/state health departments on a drop in basis. There have
never been any complaints from these agencies.
Certificates of Analysis for the Insulite Systems' supplements are
available for review by customers. Email us your
name, email address, supplement name, i.e. GlucX and the Lot numbers
stamped on the side of the bottles.
- What is the
shelf life of the Insulite supplements?
-
Two (2) years from date of production. Expiration dates are clearly
marked on all Insulite Laboratories supplement bottles.
- Do I need a prescription
for the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System?
-
No, a prescription is not required.
- Is your system covered by
insurance?
-
Unfortunately at this time, insurance companies do not recognize
the use of nutritional supplements and rarely reimburse for them.
Some companies do, in fact, reimburse their insured but the vast
majority do not. In the future, we hope that our Insulite Pre-Diabetes
System is adopted by conventional medicine and is used routinely
as treatment for Insulin Resistance and its related disorders.
- Is there anything in the
Insulite Pre-Diabetes System that will increase blood pressure?
-
No. There are no ingredients in the formulas that will have a negative
impact on blood pressure levels. One additional long term benefit
of using the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System is that, by lowering
circulating fasting insulin levels, you will eventually reduce high
blood pressure. Elevated levels of insulin will actually damage the
interior lining of vessels contributing to high blood pressure, also
known as hypertension.
- I don't have a weight
problem. Can I still have Pre-Diabetes?
-
Yes. If you have elevated homocysteine, elevated fasting glucose
and fasting insulin and your cholesterol levels are not what they
should be, you can still have Pre-Diabetes and benefit from
this product. While it seems unlikely that people who are not overweight
would have all the changes in blood tests that can reflect the presence
of Pre-Diabetes, it is possible. The only way to heal your condition
is by changing the way your body responds to the food you eat.
- Can I purchase the supplements
only, without the diet and exercise guidelines?
-
The diet and exercise guidelines are included in the price of the
Insulite Pre-Diabetes System. We do not sell the different elements
individually, because the System was designed to work as a whole.
Insulite Laboratories finds that the best results are achieved when
combining all of the supplements with lifestyle changes.
Even if you already have a "good" diet and you exercise
regularly, you will likely benefit from the suggestions offered in
the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System. Our diet and exercise guidelines
were designed to enhance the effects of the Insulite Pre-Diabetes
System.
- How will I feel when I use
the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System?
-
As you begin the Nutrition and Exercise Plans, and the longer you
use the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System, you should feel more energized
and your levels of stamina are apt to stay constant throughout the
day. Afternoon lulls in focus or concentration should decrease. You
are certain to experience a marked reduction in cravings for simple
carbohydrates in the early afternoon. Most people will also sleep
more soundly and will awake more refreshed in the morning.
- Can I use oral contraceptives
while on the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System?
-
Yes. The nutrients in the MetaX System will not interfere with the
oral birth control pill, nor will they produce side effects.
- I am gluten-sensitive.
Is there any ingredient in the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System
that would create an allergic reaction?
-
No. There are no ingredients in our formulas that would negatively
impact someone with a gluten sensitivity.
- I have been diagnosed with
Pre-Diabetes but don't have problems with weight gain.
Would the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System still work for me?
-
Yes. We recommend that you still comply with the diet, exercise
and nutrient supplementation for the reversal of Pre-Diabetes.
The Insulite Pre-Diabetes System is designed to reduce elevated
insulin levels, which are the major cause of Pre-Diabetes. Additionally,
the formula is designed to lower cholesterol, blood pressure, CRP (C-reactive
protein) and homocysteine.
- Is your product appropriate
for someone with hypoglycemia?
-
Yes. However, we recommend that you are careful about watching your
blood sugar levels for several weeks when first starting the Insulite
Pre-Diabetes System. It is important to monitor your blood sugar
levels 3-4 times per day especially initially. The nutrients
in this formula are effective at stabilizing blood sugar. The diet
changes that we recommend require that people with hypoglycemia are
vigilant about their blood sugar levels. Additionally, if you suffer
from hypoglycemia, eat 5-6 small meals per day that are protein-based
and decrease consumption of simple carbohydrates.
- Can I take glucophage (Metformin) while
using the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System?
-
Yes. If you decide to take glucophage (Metformin) while
using the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System, please make sure to
take the glucophage separately from the Pre-GlucX product. Pre-GlucX
contains fiber, which may interfere with the absorption of glucophage
if they are taken simultaneously. We recommend taking the Pre-GlucX
4 hours apart from the glucophage.
Glucophage acts as an anti-hyperglycemic; it reduces glucose
thereby reducing insulin levels. It is prescribed for those with
Insulin Resistance. Metformin can impact weight loss, however, the
results are variable. There are also many negative side effects with
the treatment of Metformin that can impact your health.
Our view on the pharmaceutical treatment of Insulin Resistance is
that there is no single drug on the market that will change your
condition. The only way to reverse the disorder is to reduce elevations
in insulin and glucose.
The Insulite Pre-Diabetes System was created to address the
cause of Pre-Diabetes. These symptoms can be partially controlled
by diet and exercise changes. The addition of nutrients will help
you become more sensitive to your insulin, to lower your blood glucose
and reduce the symptoms of Insulin Resistance and Pre-Diabetes.
If you do decide to keep taking glucophage while using the Insulite
Pre-Diabetes System, we recommend that you test your blood sugar
daily for the first few weeks on the System, as the Insulite nutrients
and glucophage together may decrease your blood sugar beyond what
you may expect.
This is the good news however. If you find this is happening, speak
to your doctor about withdrawing from the glucophage.
- My Doctor has prescribed
an anti-depressant for me. Is it safe to take this medication with
your product?
-
It is safe to combine SSRI's (Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors),
the most commonly prescribed anti-depressants, with the Insulite
supplements, to the best of our knowledge.
Unfortunately, there are no clinical trials on the use of SSRI's
and nutrients in any combination. We have many clients who are on
SSRI's and there has been no feedback regarding side effects, although
the potential always exists as individuals experience substances
differently. Our formula is made of minerals, antioxidants and vitamins
and there is no toxicity to any ingredient. Examples of SSRI's include
Prozac, Luvox, Celexa, Paxil, Zoloft and Lexapro.
In addition, there are several different classes of anti-depressants,
none of which have undergone clinical trials with nutrients in any
combination. These include NDRIs (Norepinephrine and dopamine re-uptake
inhibitors ), which include Wellbutrin, and SNRIs (Serotonin and
norepinephrine re-uptake inhibitors), such as Effexor, among others.
If you are taking an anti-depressant other than an SSRI, please contact
a member of the our Medical & Advisory team and we can
assess the possibility of any interactions.
- Why does the Insulite Pre-Diabetes
System recommend a regular exercise program to reverse Pre-Diabetes?
-
The main reason we recommend exercise as a critical part of this
system is that it will reduce your insulin secretion, an underlying
cause of Insulin Resistance, which, in turn, can lead to Pre-Diabetes.
Exercise is a necessary component of addressing other symptoms of
Pre-Diabetes. It boosts your metabolism, burns calories and
increases the number of insulin receptor sites on your cells' surface,
allowing glucose to enter the cell and be converted to energy instead
of fat. Keep in mind that there is no single strategy that is effective
for Pre-Diabetes. It takes a complete system to support these
changes metabolically.
- I have had a few minor changes
in my digestion since starting the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System.
Why is this happening?
-
We have had feedback from a small percentage of our customers that
they experience gas, bloating, changes in the frequency of bowel
movements and even a change in the color of stools. This is mainly
due to the Pre-GlucX product which contains more fiber than
one is usually accustomed to consuming each day. This increase can
cause these symptoms, which are completely benign and will resolve
over time. However, we recommend using a smaller number of Pre-GlucX
capsules to begin with and then work up to the full dose. For example,
use 1 cap twice a day for the first week and increase to 2 caps twice
a day for the second week. Work up gradually and this will help reduce
the side effects. If these symptoms persist, please contact
our Medical & Advisory team.
- Since starting the Insulite
supplements, I have had a few headaches. Why is this and what can
I do about it?
-
We have had feedback from a small percentage of our customers that
they have experienced headaches when starting to take the Insulite
supplements.
There are several reasons that the headaches could be happening,
all of which represent positive changes taking place in your system.
Headaches could be due to your body detoxifying which is a great
thing. Or, it could be low blood sugar, due to your decrease in carbohydrates
and from the supplements, some of which contain blood-sugar lowering
properties. Another reason could be that you are eating carbohydrates
without combining them with protein or fat.
If you are uncomfortable, we suggest that you decrease all supplements
by half for the first two weeks and consume 3 liters of water over
the course of the day. Slowing the dose will take care of this symptom
and drinking plenty of water will help flush out toxins.
Headaches can also result from a change in bowel habits due to starting
the program and making diet changes. Again, drinking plenty of water
with a decrease in the Insulite supplements at the beginning of the
program will help eliminate this problem. If your headaches continue
despite both of these changes, please consult
our Medical & Advisory team.
- What kind of pancreatic and
adrenal tissue is used in the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System?
-
The pancreatic and adrenal tissues in the supplements are porcine (pig) derived
and are from Australia. They are range-free, hormone-free
and pesticide-free. The glandulars and the gelatin capsules
are the only animal derived substances in our products.
- Are there any ingredients
in the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System that may prevent me from
becoming pregnant?
-
No. In fact, if you are having difficulty conceiving, lowering your
insulin is a way to enhance your ability to conceive. We do recommend,
however, that, if you become pregnant while using the Insulite Pre-Diabetes
System, you discontinue using the supplements during your pregnancy
and then resume them after you finish breastfeeding. The reason is
that while we know that the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System is
safe and non-toxic in general, these supplements have not been
tested in any clinical trials specifically on pregnant women or infants.
- Is it safe to continue trying
to get pregnant while using the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System?
-
It is safe to continue trying to get pregnant while you are using
the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System.
However, if you do get pregnant, we recommend that you discontinue
taking the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System supplements during your
pregnancy, and then resume the supplements after you are finished
breastfeeding. The reason is that while we know that the Insulite
Pre-Diabetes System is safe and non-toxic in general, these
supplements have not been tested in any clinical trials specifically
on pregnant women or infants.
- Is the Insulite Pre-Diabetes
System safe to take while pregnant?
-
We at Insulite Laboratories want to support healthy changes that
you have made. However, if you conceive while on the Insulite Pre-Diabetes
System of nutrients and lifestyle changes, we recommend that you
discontinue the nutrients until after you have finished nursing.
The reason is that, while we know that the Insulite Pre-Diabetes
System is safe and non-toxic in general, these supplements have
not been tested in any clinical trials specifically on pregnant women
or infants.
We strongly encourage you to keep working on the carbohydrate reductions
and exercise plan as these recommendations are both safe for pregnant
as well as nursing mothers.
- Is the Insulite Pre-Diabetes
System safe to use while nursing?
-
We at Insulite Laboratories congratulate you on your pregnancy and
birth of your child. We recommend that you discontinue the use of
the nutrients in our System until you have stopped nursing. The reason
is that, while we know that the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System
is safe and non-toxic in general, these supplements have not
been tested in any clinical trials specifically on pregnant women
or infants. We strongly encourage you to keep working on the carbohydrate
reductions and exercise plan as these recommendations are both safe
for pregnant as well as nursing mothers.
- Can I still take my multivitamins
while on the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System?
-
Yes. You may take your multivitamins at the same time as taking
the pills of the Insulite Pre-Diabetes System except Pre-GlucX.
Because it is a soluble fiber, the Pre-GlucX may interfere with
the absorption of vitamins (and any other medications).
To be safe, we recommend that Pre-GlucX is taken at least an
hour before meals. Your vitamins can be taken at meal time with Pre-SensitX,
RejuvenX and Meta-OmegaX.
Here is a suggested schedule:
| With breakfast: |
Pre-SensitX - 2 caps and Pre-RejuvenX - 2
caps |
| Between breakfast and lunch: |
Pre-GlucX - 3 caps |
| With Lunch: |
Pre-SensitX - 2 caps, Pre-RejuvenX - 2
caps and Meta-OmegaX - 2 caps |
| With Dinner: |
Meta-OmegaX - 2 caps |
| After dinner/before bed: |
Pre-GlucX - 3 caps |
Your vitamins can be taken at meal time with Pre-SensitX, Pre-RejuvenX
and Meta-OmegaX.
- Can my teenager take the
Insulite Pre-Diabetes products and safely follow the program?
-
Yes, the diet and exercise recommendations are safe for all people
over the age of 12. However, it is recommended that teenagers take
the Supplement Plan at half the adult dose since there have been
no clinical studies conducted with teenagers using the Insulite Pre-Diabetes
System nor any other nutrient formula.
Please contact our Medical & Advisory
team to discuss dosing for YOUR teenager.
Half of the adult dose is: GlucX: 3 caps per day; Pre-SensitX: 2
caps per day; RejuvenX: 2 caps per day and Meta-OmegaX 2 caps per
day. It is ideal to take these nutrients twice per day rather than
all at once. GlucX contains fiber, which may interfere with the absorption
of medications if they are taken simultaneously. We recommend taking
the GlucX 4 hours apart from medications and vitamins.
